IMPORTANT:
- Heat Barbeque slowly and never light blazing fire especially on
wet concrete
- Do not put out flames with water
Heat
Fractures/Fissures
Heat fractures are small hairline cracks that can occur from concrete expansion
due to moisture or high heat situations on a cold barbeque. These
fractures/fissures are natural with any concrete product and can be reduced
by proper sealing paint, seasonal care and heating speed. Heat
fractures/Fissures are not defects from materials and workmanship and do not
constitute a warranty claim. Please see Chip and Heat repair for
instructions on patching/repairing.
Painting
Each
Zefirro must be painted with a special sealing paint (included) to provide
resistance to moisture. As any natural concrete product will absorb moisture,
painting minimizes the penetration of the moisture and reduces potential heat fissures.
Barbeques that are not properly sealed will be void of warranty.
Your
Zefirro can also be custom painted to match your stucco home, gazebo, pergola or
other garden features. Please check with your local retailer for concrete
compatible paints that can be tinted to you specific requirements.
Cover your barbeque
for winter or seasonal storage
Zefirro
Barbeque must be covered for winter season. Although units are sealed with
specialty paint they are still vulnerable to expansion due
to snow, ice and freezing rain that can cause hairline fractures. Proper winter
storage by covering with a custom cover, waterproof tarpaulin or plastic sheet will minimize
the effects of expansion caused by wet, freezing conditions.
Allow barbeque to heat up
steadily
Your barbeque is made of
high heat refractory concrete and will withstand all charcoal based fires.
Larger units that are specified for wood can also burn up to 2 kg of wood at any
given time. A steady heat build up is required to assure controlled expansion of
the refractory concrete. Fast hot fires when the barbeque is wet or has been
covered in snow/ice could lead to hairline fractures. We recommend a steady heat
build up over 30 minutes with a slow addition of combustible material over the
warm up period
Note: Heat fractures are
natural on ALL concrete products and will not affect the performance or strength of the product.
Heat Fractures are not covered by the warranty.
Chip and Heat Fractures
Repair
Chips can occur from
transportation or impact and weather or impact and heat fractures are natural in
all concrete products. Neither affects the performance or structural strength of
the product and can easily be repaired with weather resistant stucco or concrete
patch available a most retail stores. These repairs can be painted over with the
sealing paint provided when you purchased you Barbeque.
Cleaning
You should remove ash from
your Zefirro on a regular basis. Assure there is no fire or burning embers
remaining when removing ash. Soot and grease marks are unavoidable when using
traditional cooking Barbeques and can be cleaned with a solution of water and
dish soap. Should dish soap not be stron enough, you can use a mild detergent.
